DTEP - News in Design & Technology
Since launching this year DTEP have been delighted to work with teachers and trainees on a number of professional development programmes
SSAT Engineering Race Night
During the spring term Mark and Nick wowed leaders and specialists attending the SSAT's Engineering Conference in Bristol. Following a packed industrial visit to Rolls Royce and a great dinner at the Bristol Marriott colleagues at each dinner table were challenged to design, build and race slot car derived drag race cars on their land speed record track. One team achieved a cool scale speed of 332 mph!
Carmarthen Schools CPD
Over a number of weeks specialist D&T staff and Heads of Department have been on the receiving end of DTEP ideas and practice. Based at the regions' teachers centre hands-on has been the order of the day with a rich mixture of Smart Materials, CADCAM and Systems and Control activities. DTEP would also like to thanks Boxford for supporting the programme too.
GTP trainees at Lord Williams' School
Trainees in Thame were DTEPs captive audience earlier in the year. The day focused on materials and processes and some exciting Systems and Control. Trying to make them all go home at the end of the day was the difficult Bit.
It really is important that we build in some skills and experiences for our trainees to seed good practice in meeting the revised National Curriculum.
Good luck to all the trainees in your new posts from September.
